Today is a good day to set up your accounts and get familiar with the applications. Both applications will ask for a lot of simple demographic information such as your name, address, high school, etc. Fill all that out ASAP. Then you can concentrate for the next few weeks/months on the more detailed sections like the essays/insight questions and activities/awards. You will need your most recent transcript to complete the Academic History section. If you don’t have that, ask your counselor for a copy when school starts.
My #1 tip to reduce stress and anxiety around applications: do as much as you can during the summer. Work on the applications for a few hours each week and you will have a great head start before you head back to school. Imagine how fall semester senior year, with all of your AP/honors classes, fall sports, homecoming and other commitments, will feel if you have your applications almost complete well before the deadlines. Good!
I have a lot of confidence in you. You will tackle these applications, write amazing essays and show those admissions officers what a remarkable person you are.
I’m looking forward to working with you this fall!
